A dear child has many names - gälliwashere Oy is now Topaasia Oy

A dear child has many names, but only one can be official, so: RIP gälliwashere Oy 2014-2019. Long Live Topaasia Oy 2019 -> The absolute favourite among company names, gälliwashere oy, has been officially laid to rest as a name, and the conquest of the world continues under the name Topaasia Oy. A short reminiscence: gälliwashere was born as a name in 2014 in a booth at Protomo in Jyväskylä, when the firm needed a name in order to get a business ID. "gälli" came from combining the surnames of the entrepreneurs Galla and Häll, and the "washere" part was inherited from Jussi's earlier sole trader name "Gallawashere". For some reason, the first letter of the name also had to be written in lower case. A certain awkwardness of the name was noticed fairly soon, and our first products, the Topaasia games, were not "gälliwashere" serious games after all; their name grew out of the idea "Top asia - what matters most right now?", as the games brought help to teams' decision-making and prioritisation. We also thought it would be fun to hand out "washere" stickers along with the games around the world. Soon after that we found that gälliwashere produced quite a lot of spelling out, puzzlement, joy and, in 99% of cases, the counter-question "so, what?". Quite often people still wrote the name correctly, probably mostly because they had to check its spelling somewhere. The playfulness and quirkiness of the name caught on with many. For some it probably caused quiet disapproval. It has still worked well. Remarks and reactions related to the name have included: -"What the h**l is gälli?" -"That's brilliant! Fight the system" -"Well, at least these lads aren't riding on a brand" -"Wouldn't it be easier to maintain just one name?" Over the years we often considered changing the name to something simpler and to a "proper" company name. At the same time, Topaasia was becoming established as the name of our offering, and soon more and more people recognised the firm as "the ones with those topaasia games". But no worries. We are attached enough to gälli as a concept that we kept it as our first official auxiliary trade name. So if you ask a game man to speak/consult/do inventory/clean the toilets/do anything not related to the Topaasia product family, we are happy to show up as "gälli". Nothing more to add, have a great summer! The Topaasia game men
