All you need to participate in a Topaasia game session is a smartphone and an online connection. The game is web-based, so participants do not need to install an app on their phone. Participants can also join the session from their computer or tablet.
A basic understanding of how a Topaasia session works and a few practice sessions. A basic understanding is provided in the game leader training (1-2h).
Topaasia trains game facilitators in the world of gamified online facilitation in a one-hour training session. The facilitator does not need to have a background in facilitation, the tool will help.
You can share audio and video using the video conferencing tool of your choice (e.g. Teams, Meets, Zoom)

The session can be a short one, max 30min, or a longer one, up to several hours. On average, however, we recommend an hour.
The pilot will take 1-2 months in total, depending on the scheduling of game sessions.
One session takes 30-90 minutes. If the target is 20 game sessions and there are five game leaders, four game sessions are needed for each game leader. In this case, one game session per week allows you to complete sessions in a month.

You can also create your own deck, and in the Employee Conversations pilot, we will create a deck tailored to you based on the personnel-, workplace-, or employee experience survey you use. With a deck, you can limit the discussions to the topics that are covered by the surveys and what has emerged from them.
If you continue with a Topaasia annual licence, you can continue to use the game content created for you in the pilot. If you do not continue to use Topaasia, the content will be removed from the service.
The Topaasia interface is available in Finnish, English, German and Swedish. The game decks can be written in any language you want.
Yes. The Topaasia service has been information security audited by a third party and found to be secure and compliant with good practices.
Yes, it works. A gamified dialogue is about setting a context and a way of facilitating the discussion, keeping the discussion on topic, making all participants seen and heard, using cards to help participants articulate their thoughts and decide on concrete, everyday development actions.
Topaasia does not work if you are allergic to the idea that people can talk to each other and thus agree on the development measures in everyday life, instead of them always being imposed from the top down.
Yes. From the Topaasia dashboard, your organisation’s administrator can see the session-specific notes, actions and other decisions, data and choices that occur during the sessions. In addition, aggregated analyses of games can be compiled.
In the pilot, we will produce a 5-10 page PDF compilation showing:
1) the main areas for development (top issues)
2) Selected cards for different perspectives (what is perceived as most challenging, most enabling, clearest strength, clearest weakness, etc.)
3) A compilation of development plans, measures and notes from the games
The Topaasia service has an internal dashboard and analysis tool that allows you to examine the games played, and the qualitative data extracted from them, in a variety of ways.
The data can be compiled in the dashboard, or downloaded as a CSV file for your own further work.
